THE STORY
Some questions are dangerous simply because they are asked.
Calista has spent years in a town where where certain questions are better left alone. An object she cannot explain, a journey beyond the familiar, and a stranger surrounded by rumor begin to disturb the life she knows. The more she notices, the harder it becomes to accept how much everyone else refuses to discuss.

THE CHARACTERS
Calista & Sylas
Two people standing on opposite sides of the same silence. Calista is drawn toward what others avoid; Sylas has built a life apart from them. Neither has much reason to trust the other.
CALISTA
A young woman with a habit of asking the questions others have learned to leave alone.
Curious, stubborn, and observant, she is beginning to notice how much of her world depends on what no one is willing to explain.
SYLAS
A solitary Mnemonist living beyond the town, known more through rumor than familiarity.
Controlled, watchful, and difficult to read, he offers few answers—and even fewer reasons to trust him.
AT ITS HEART
What remains of us when memory can no longer be trusted?
The Memory Painter explores identity, memory, grief, and the uneasy space between what is remembered and what is missing. At its center is a question of selfhood: how much of who we are depends on the stories we can still reach.
